We couldn’t believe in less than 12 months of the business starting – here we were at The National Wedding Show London!
We had an amazing 3 days where we met and spoke to over 2,000 brides from across the UK.
We arrived Thursday afternoon and were in awe at the amazing venue. First task was to find the stand and I wasn’t disappointed, we were situated facing the champagne bar around the edge of the show and probably had one of the best spots ….. We were just by the ladies loos so we couldn’t be missed!
Before the show I spent a long time deciding how the stand should look, displaying a wedding directory business is difficult as its a service and you need to have something eye catching for people to want to stop before you speak to them (and it had to fit in my car!). I wanted to create a mini directory on the stand representing all our different categories and luckily I have a very good hubbie who found me just the units I needed online.
Putting the stand together was the easy part, deciding where to put everything on it was another challenge …. I think I must have moved it about a dozen times before I was happy with it.
We were busy from the moment the doors opened as the brides to be were queuing outside as we arrived keen to get in to get the best deals on dresses and to get front row seats for the catwalk shows.
We were pleasantly surprised at how far afield across the UK the brides to be were getting married – the thing with London is a lot of people work/live there but many of them ‘go home’ to get married in the town or village where they grew up – we met brides to be from all except 2 of our 44 regional sites!
Everyone that came through the door received an ‘official’ show guide and the show had featured us in their news section so even those we didn’t get to talk too would have seen our details in the guide.
As well as having the directory featured in the show guide we handed out over 2,000 copies of our mini magazine – we had to get special agreement from the organiser to produce and hand these out so as not to go against their ‘stand sharing’ rules but it was the perfect way to share with the brides to be we met examples of the talented local suppliers we have on the sites through the use of ‘theme’ pages to also inspire them with new ideas for their wedding. I’ve done a full post on the mini mag themes so take a look here.
We loved being part of such a special event and one that the bridal visitors really enjoyed – we enjoyed it so much we have booked a stand again for London 2015! We are already thinking and planning the stand so invite our registered suppliers to look out for the opportunity to be part of it with us later in the year.
