The Old Milking Parlour at Cavokay House

The Old Milking Parlour at Cavokay House is a privately owned rural D.I.Y. function venue situated in the beautiful Blackmore Vale on the Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire borders.

As the name suggests, the building is a former milking parlour dating from the 1700s. It is built of local stone and so retains it’s old-world rustic charm.

The Old Milking Parlour is available to hire for wedding receptions, civil partnership celebrations, christening parties and other family occasions. It is also available for seminars and training workshops.

There is no corkage or preferred suppliers – which means that when you hire The Old Milking Parlour, you are able to create your own bespoke occasion which is as unique as you are.

Unlike many D.I.Y. venues, The Old Milking Parlour has all the infrastructure you need already in place and included in the price. There are high quality toilets – Ladies, Gents and Disabled – a bar area and a 56 vehicle car park. Not to mention a professional quality sound system and a dance floor.

There are twenty 6ft tables and 120 chairs included in the hire fee. But if you’d prefer to hire in tables and chairs of a different style, that’s just fine. There is a level south facing lawn for chatting and mingling – and plenty of room for a marquee (there is no surcharge for setting up a marquee).

There are twelve acres of grounds made up of paddocks, lawns, woods, a stream, winding paths and sun-dappled glades. Panoramic country views abound.

If you want yurts, a marquee, bouncy castle or even a place to land your helicopter there is plenty of room.

You can dress The Old Milking Parlour in your own taste and style, so presenting a unique experience to your guests. Your personal control of every aspect (including cost) of the big day is assured at The Old Milking Parlour – there are no hidden extras.

The hire fee includes exclusive use of the venue for set-up, preparation as well as for your big day – so you can enjoy the build up (and maybe even have a few practices to perfect your first dance in private if you wish!).

Accessibility is no problem at The Old milking Parlour; it is close to the A30 and approximately seven miles south of the A303. The main-line station of Templecombe is about 3 miles away and for those arriving by air, Henstridge Airfield is close by.

We’d love to show you around our little slice of paradise.

Fantastic place and setting for any occasion!!!!! Superb. X Hayley
Whoever listed the seven wonders of the world had obviously not been to Cavokay House. This is the most fabulous venue. Ideal for any celebration. It makes you want to get married just so can have the reception here in their wonderful function room. Colin and Lou are two of the nicest people I have met, nothing is too much trouble. The grounds are very well maintained and the dogs love the woods and acres of fields to walk in. The local pub, with a great menu, is a pleasant 20 minute stroll away. Hopefully see you next year for another FAB Camp. Thanks Colin and Lou for making great memories. Lesley
Just finished a great training camp at Cavokay House. This venue simply has everything you could possibly want. It has beautiful tracks through well-kept woods to walk in, lovely lawns and well-equipped function room with dance floor and disco with great lighting. You would have to go a long way to find a more welcoming and accommodating hosts in Lu and Colin. A truly memorable week. We will definitely be returning next year for our 4th training camp. Dawn
Great venue, with excellent hosts Colin and Lou, who ensure everyone is catered for in their stay. Great woods and function room, with the nearby airfield being an attraction for plane spotters. Andy
